Association of Spiritual Friends

The Reiyukai is a circle of spiritualist friends who venerate their ancestors. RYK is the mother of New Religions, established in Japan (1920) and based upon the Threefold Lotus Sutra.

Are you interested in genealogy or would you like to add a traditional Japanese ancestral tablet to your family altar? Reiyukai is non-denominational: Buddhists, Christians, all are welcome.

Reiyukai's Gohoza

There are two elements which are central on a Reiyukai family altar (Gohoza) where one recites the Lotus Sutra and pray for our ancestors' Buddhahood. The Sokaimyo (translated on right) acts as a window on the Spiritual World; and the Register of Posthumous Names (Kakocho) can be considered the seating place of one's ancestors.
