Obituary for John Wesley Worden

John Wesley Worden, youngest son of Edward O. and Leona M. Worden, was born near Bayard, Kansas, October 10, 1915. He grew up in the Osage Valley neighborhood. He departed this life December 4, 1967 at the Casey Nursing Home, Casey, Ill. at the age of 52 years, one month and 24 days.

He enlisted in the Army January 5, 1938, and served seven years. He was a surgical technician in the first medical squadron. We was in the first wave of the African invasion, and served in Algeria, Tunisia and Sicily. He was awarded the good conduct medal and four Bronze Stars for service in that area.

He was married to Dorothy L. Sidwell in 1944 and to this union was born one daughter, Jaunita Evelyn.

He farmed near Casey, Ill., and later operated a radio and television shop at Casey.

He is survived by his wife and daughter of the home, one brother, Edward C., Tacoma, Washington, Ethel Gerdsen, Uniontown; and one step-sister, Maud Culler of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services were held at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Ill., December 6 at 1:30 PM with the Rev. Hugh Smith in charge. Interment was in the Macedonia Cemetery near Casey.
