The first document pertaining to Ripha are those of his service in the War of 1812. He served in Swift's Detachment, New York Volunteers, commanded by Lt. Philetus Swift from 16 May 1812 until 24 May 1813. His brother, Robert B. Worden, served in the same company at the same time. It is interesting to note that their enlistment time was very shortly after their father's death. He was discharged near Black Rock, New York.
In 1815, Ripha married Rebecca Ripley, daughter of Jonathan Ripley and Ruth Corey. In the 1820 census of Sheldon, New York, Ripha appears listing one male 16-25, one female under 10, and one female 16-25.
In the Sheldon land records, there is record of a mortgage from Robert B. and Ripha Worden given to Lamuel Chipman in 1817 and foreclosed in 1832. There is another record of land sold to Ripha on 28 September 1823 in Sheldon.
Ripha apparently moved to Michigan in 1833. He died there in 1849.
There are also records from Ripha's wife, Rebecca, to the government concerning bounty land due to his service in the War of 1812.
