Once the snow melted a bit, I moved the top half out of the way so I
could pull the bottom half. I extended my shop crane with a 15'
or so length of 2" steel pipe, hoisted at midpoint by the crane,
supported and restrained at the bottom end by the base of the
crane. The shop crane is tied down to the truck bed and the
wheels lifted off the bed by wood blocking.
I took the opportunity to flip the top half over to have a look at the
shifting hardware.
And yet another view of the spindle gearing. Depending on the
brightness & resolution of your monitor, you may be able to see the
4th bolt's hole, located between the spindle and countershaft, just
below the 3rd spindle gear from the left.
